ARCH receives over 6 million in Federal Funding for affordable housing in Blaine County.
ARCH Community Housing Trust receives federal funds in order to construct the Quail Creek Community in Blaine County, Idaho.
Ketchum, Idaho – November 14th 2013 ARCH Community Housing Trust and New Beginnings Housing learned last week that their application for Low Income Housing Tax Credits and HOME Funds was approved by Idaho Housing and Finance Association (IHFA). IHFA has reserved $599,785 in Low Income Housing Tax Credits and $830,000 in Home Funds to assist in the proposed 26 unit townhome community for low income Blaine County households.
Many factors contributed to the successful application including the commitment by Blaine County to a community housing overlay district which encourages the development of affordable housing. In accordance with the Blaine County Community Housing Overlay District options, George Kirk will donate land to ARCH which facilitates market rate development by incentivizing the development of affordable housing. Strong demand as outlined in the market study and the analysis provided by the Blaine County Housing Authority were key factors in the award of funding.
Next steps will be to prepare more detailed development plans and to begin the PUD review process with The County. We anticipate beginning construction in late 2014 with the objective of housing the 1st residents in late 2015. Multiple community meetings are planned to answer questions from the public. The first is scheduled for Tuesday, December 3rd from noon to 1:00 at the YMCA community room.
Selection of architects and general contractors will be made through a competitive RFP /RFQ process. Details will be on the ARCH website and noticed in the paper once finalized.
Households interested in possible rental opportunities should contact the Blaine County Housing Authority at 788-6102.
