DEADLINE FOR PROPERTY TAX REDUCTION – HOMEOWNER’S EXEMPTION

APRIL 18, 2017

Property tax reduction applications for the Homeowner’s Exemption are due to the County Assessor by April 18, 2017.  A homeowner who occupies his/her primary dwelling by April 18, 2017, qualifies for an exemption of 50% of the value of the residence (including up to one acre of land) or $100,000, whichever is less.  Taxes are computed on the non-exempt value.  A homeowner may also apply for this exemption on their home (not land) if they are paying occupancy taxes (new home occupied after January 1st of current tax year).

Upon approval of the application, the exemption is continuous as long as the homeowner occupies the property as their primary residence.  Upon change of ownership, the new owner must file a new application.  There are no income or age restrictions, but you can qualify for an exemption on only one home at a time.

To find out if you qualify, please contact the Blaine County Assessor’s Office at the Courthouse Annex, located at 219 S 1st Ave, Ste. 101, Hailey.

Phone: 208-788-5535.
